Lifting the Lid is a Bible-based course in six parts, focusing on mental health issues. It has been devised by Livability, a disability charity that aims to connect people with their community.
Statistically, 1 in 4 people will be suffering a mental health issue at any one time. That’s 25% of our congregation, clergy, lay volunteers and newcomers.
The church is NOT here to take the place of medical professionals BUT our role as a church is to do as Jesus does, offering acceptance, inclusion, hospitality and friendship to those who are often judged, marginalised or stigmatised because of their illness.
Lifting the Lid offers an opportunity to broaden our understanding and dismiss some commonly held myths about mental health issues and those who struggle with them, helping us to offer a safe place for the vulnerable.
This Bible-based course will also draw upon useful resources and information to help signpost any who are supporting others as well as those in need to sources of help and advice.
Participation on the course is free.
If you would like to join, please book your place by replying to Melvyn’s email or by speaking to Jackie Brooks-Cheesman.
Please do pray about the part you could play in building us as a church. And talk to Melvyn to find out more if you think you could help in any of the following ways:
